Manomet Chapter
Welcome to the Manomet Chapter Page!. Our Chapter:Our Chapter:
Manomet: While the name certainly may translate as Portage, the relationship to the lodge is that it was the name given to a Wampanoag or Naiset village of Christian Indians that was located just southeast of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Manomet was the closest Indian village to the location of the council camp for Old Colony Council, which was Camp Squanto, located in So. Carver, MA. The name is also taken from the old Manomet Lodge 164, which merged with Tisquantum Lodge 518 to make Tisquantum Lodge 164/249. Chapter Totem The Bent Stump. The Bent Stump was a Native American way of marking trails. The bent stump that our totem takes after is the one that was in front of the Dinning Hall of the former council camp, Camp Child, in Plymouth, Mass. Chapter Mailing
