Order of the Arrow - Tisquantum Lodge

The Japeechan Chapter of Tisquantum Lodge serves the communities of Weymouth, Hingham, Hull, Braintree, Randolph, Canton, and Sharon. This is the Great Ponds District.

Our Chapter:

The name “Japeechan” means “by the river.”

Meeting Info

We meet on the first Tuesday of each month between October and May at 7:30. The location is Old South Union Church in South Weymouth. You may recognize this as the location of the District’s annual Merit Badge University. We urge all arrowmen from the chapter to attend. It is always a good time and there is always FREE FOOD.

Chapter Facts

The chapter was founded in 1997 when the old Pathfinder District was realigned into the current Great Ponds District. Its first Chief was John Milleris from Randolph. Kevin Bacon of troop 19, Weymouth succeeded him. He was followed by Alex Elliot of the same troop. Nate “Mario” Schoenly of troop 92, Weymouth was elected Chief in 2001 and served two terms. At this time the chapter won the prestigious Fellowship Chapter Award. After his second term Nate went on to become Lodge Chief while Brian Cafferelli took office. Bill Norton from troop 73, Weymouth is currently Chief pending the elections in October 2005. Members from Japeechan Chapter have been very active in the leadership of the lodge for many years along with supplying many scouts for the last few NOACs.
