Camp Promotions

Camping is one of the key factors to the Order of the Arrow.  Because of camping being a huge part of the lodge, it is responsible for supporting the council's local camp.  One of the ways Tisquantum Lodge does this is through the Camp Promotions Committee.  This committee is designed promote camping at Camp Squanto, the local council camp.  This presentation includes a short 10 minute video, and includes question and answer time afterwards by one an OA representative who has camped at Camp Squanto before.  The whole Presentation runs from 15-25 minutes, depending on how long the question and answer session is.  If there are any questions, or requests to plan a presentation, please email Greg Burke and he will send your email to the committee chairman Zac Schultz.

Objective:  The objective of the Order of the Arrow Camp Promotions Committee is to support the local council camp.  This committee supports the local council camp by attending troop meetings, and encouraging the interest of the scouts in each troop to attend summer camp.  One certain demographic which is focused on is the younger scouts, because they are the ones who usually get the most out of a camp experience, and to return the next year as well.

Also, Target troops include troops which have been attending Camp Squanto for a long time to interest the younger scouts, troops which are interested in Camp Squanto, and any troop which contacts a representative from the Camp Promotions Committee.

If a troop is unable to attend, the scouts should be informed that there is a provisional troop in which individual scouts may attend.

Who:  Local representatives of the Order of the Arrow, who have had a good camp experience, should be the presenters.

What:  The presentation includes a ten minute DVD of Camp Squanto.  Following the video should be a question and answer session with the Order of the Arrow representatives.

When and Where:  The presentation should be made at any function of the troop receiving the presentation.  The presentation can be made at any time, but the time of the presentation is to be set by the troop.

Goal:  The Camp Promotions goal this year is to have presentations for the troops who do not already attend Camp Squanto, but are interested and accept a presentation.  Also to perform a presentation for any troop that asks.
